"No one is above the law, least of all someone entrusted with upholding it."

Brian Richard Fitzgerald, a 51-year-old deputy attorney general for New Jersey who had held the role since 2016, was arrested Thursday on felony charges related to AI-generated child sexual abuse material. According to Bucks County Detectives, Fitzgerald used an AI program to transform photos of real minors pulled from social media into sexualized images, then distributed them on Discord under the username "thegentlemanpervert_2160_07833." The investigation began when the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children received a tip in July; digital forensics and IP records led investigators to his home, where they recovered prompts and scripts used to generate the material.

Fitzgerald faces charges of CSAM possession, dissemination, and criminal use of a communication facility. His day job involved preparing insurance fraud cases for trial as a state prosecutor. New Jersey Attorney General Joe Khan noted in a statement that the office would "pursue these cases aggressively and hold offenders fully accountable, regardless of their profession or title."
